Since 1997, program evaluation has been the primary focus of both my work and my ongoing studies. Usefulness is a priority in all my evaluation work. Engaging stakeholders in every step of decision-making increases buy-in and ultimately results in an evaluation that is more useful and results that are used. I like to use this participatory, no-surprises approach for both conducting evaluations and developing evaluation frameworks.

As an evaluator I am able to draw on many years experience in adult education and group facilitation. I use a variety of participatory approaches that include focus groups, workshops, online discussions and Labonte and Feather’s Story-Dialogue method.

Over the years I have planned and completed dozens of evaluations for community and government programs at the local, provincial, regional and national levels. A few of these are listed below. But first, a link to an evaluation resource:

How to Deliver Negative Evaluation Results Constructively: Ten Tips for Evaluators (2002)
I developed this resource for and with members of Evaltalk, the American Evaluation Association online discussion list, after a season of evaluating a series of difficult projects.
