We can put a link in the HelpDesk and mention in the MOTD > that if someone has a problem with Y2K, they can ask userhelp or find > the page at: given url. I agree. At present the home page of the Chebucto Community Net is not the place to advertise Y2K. While there may be all sorts of things that are true of the demographics of CCN users (majority: male, anglo-saxon, Christian, certain age and income brackets, watch X-files, Globe & Mail readers, etc.) this doesn't mean we necessarily need to include links from the home page to Viagra, mutual funds, X-files, Globe & Mail, etc. at least with the current focus of what we are doing. The local community is our focus, particularly in terms of the home page. This is not to say that we couldn't take another approach (like Sympatico, Netscape, Yahoo, etc.) and provide a very generalized set of links to all sorts of resources that could conceiveably be of interest to our readers/users. I doubt that we could at present support such an approach, at least not without the advertising and funding which underpin other such sites.
