An Am. Bittern has taken up residence in the marsh behind my house
again this year. I heard it calling last night and it was quite loud
this morning when I left for work.

> Hi all. My husband and I stopped at the pond near the ball field in St.
> Croix this evening at 8:30 to see if we could hear the A. Bittern. We heard
> a faint call and followed it to the open marsh area on the left side of the
> road before you get to the ball field. There we saw the bird close to the
> middle of the marsh. We watched it for about 10 minutes before it ducked
> down in the grass. Unfortunately, we didn't have the camera with us, but
> got a faint picture with the cell phone.
