My husband and I stopped at the pond near the ball field in St. Croix this evening at 8:30 to see if we could hear the A. Bittern. We heard a faint call and followed it to the open marsh area on the left side of the road before you get to the ball field. There we saw the bird close to the middle of the marsh. We watched it for about 10 minutes before it ducked down in the grass. Unfortunately, we didn't have the camera with us, but got a faint picture with the cell phone.
