The original name came from a man named "Jolly" who was believed = to be the first settler there. Some map maker decided the name should be = "Joli" and so it is that old timers still call it Jolly, while all the = maps say it is Joli. In your case the name was "Peters" - from a man's name also, that = has now been changed to "Peter."
