Any possessive = name place has been reduced to the singular, rendering the meaning = obtuse. An example, I am from Neil's Harbour (Victoria County). My = sister-in-law was born in Neil's Harbour and when she applied for her = Passport she received it back with the birthplace stroked out. Since she = had urgent need of a Passport, she had to travel to Halifax to hopefully = move it along. When they were filling in the birthplace one person = marked in Neil's Harbour, another "whited" it out and a third marked in = over the whiteout "Neil Harbour". The sign now says "Neil Harbour". = Whether this will satisfy the Passport officials is not yet known. =20 I don't know if the "query" function on their website works or not but = when I enter "Neil's" or "Neil" Harbour, the return states no records = exist.
