Index of Subjects Ken McKenna Box 218 Stellarton NS B0K 1S0 902 752-7644 Hi all As Clarence Stevens noted ( see note below) we were able to locate the Barnacle Goose in the late afternoon ~4:30 and I was able to successfully show the Murrants about 5:00 p.m. and Peter LeBlanc just before 6:00 p.m. and the Goose was still near same location opposite house # 875 Shore Rd. near Masstown. The light is not great in this location in the late afternoon but with some scanning the Barnacle was easy to pick out of the crowd. We walked a few hundred meters west on the road to get to a vantage point where were could locate the Barnacle on the last visit as it had moved just a little. On the way back to Peter's vehicle in the Onslow area we noted the sky was filled with skeins of geese and indeed all the geese at McWilliam Rd. had left that area and were heading out to the bay of Fundy hopefully meeting up with the group off the Shore Rd. and not leaving the area. The Masstown area might be the best place to start for anyone looking on Monday especially the Shore Rd. area. Earlier we had checked out Debert Beach at high tide where the water was overflowing the bay. There was a large flock of shorebirds and our quick look revealed White-rumped, Dunlin, Semi Plovers and Sanderling and the number of birds was likely more than 1000. There were also several hundred shorebirds of Shore Rd. at high tide as well. About 8-10 Snow Buntings and a few Longspurs were seen in the Debert Beach area. cheers Ken ----- Original Message ----- From: "Clarence Stevens" <birder_ca@yahoo.com> To: <naturens@chebucto.ns.ca> Sent: Sunday, October 28, 2007 6:43 PM Subject: [NatureNS] Barnacle Goose Update 5.0 > Hi All, First the good news, we were able to get good looks at all 5 > species of > geese today.
