Absolutely, and the Fifth Estate documentary made it fairly clear who
those people are, namely those whose pocketbooks will (at least in
the short term) take a hit if the government moves to clean up this
mess. ;->

Actually, in my view (and that of many others), while there's no
doubt that cutting down on carbon emissions will mean some real costs
in the short term, these are paltry compared to the costs that all of
us will pay in the medium term (i.e. within ~ 50 years) if this isn't
done. Moreover, as lots of people have pointed out, and even many
businesses are realizing and embracing, such measures also open up
great financial and business opportunities for developing and
marketing all sorts of technologies from wind and solar power, to
electric and hybird cars, to insulation and fuel efficiency
technologies, to trading carbon credits, etc.

And, like paying down the debt, the sooner you get started, the
quicker it happens and the less painful it all is. Considering the
dire possibilities of not doing so, I would argue that we don't
really have a choice (at least if we want to leave a world behind for
our grandchildren ...).

Me too ... until it melts the Greenland ice cap and ocean levels rise
by 10 meters. ;->

Cheers,

Chris
