I graduated from Dalhousie University with a BSc, majoring in Computing Science in April of 1989. After 4 months of unemployment I began working for the Government of Nova Scotia in 1989 as a maintenance programmer working with Software AG's Natural programming language and their Adabas DBMS as well as Cobol and IBM Assembly language. In the summer of 1996, 4 months after my department, Supply and Services, got ripped apart, I began working with the Internet. I've been having fun ever since!!! I guess I kinda lied when I said: "I'll keep you posted!" as I keep forgetting to update this darn site! However, I have made a few changes recently (March 2003) so I'm keeping my promise, I'm just very slow at getting around to it. Well, I took a 1 year leave of absence from the Government of Nova Scotia to try my hand in private industry. In February 2002 I started working with what was then Stratospherei and what is now immediaC. After the year was up I had to decide, go back to government and have that nice secure feeling or stay with my new teammates and make a go of it in the private sector. I decided to leap! My current title is Chief Technology Officer for immediaC; a little grandiose and a little hard to get used to but I'm working towards it. We're busy as heck right now which is one of the reasons why I haven't gotten around to updating this old, clunky site. I spend most of my time developing our core product, i-Web Suite and customizing our product to meet the client's needs. In this way I've managed to take a good thing and make it better. Not only do I get to work with computers all day but I've managed to re-orient my career to focus on web-based development efforts. I really like to build solutions. Here's a few sites I've worked on over the years:
There's quite a few other things I've slapped together for our Intranet which can't be linked to and every bit of it was fun! If I had one piece of advice to give anyone it would be to find a job you love. This continues to be my current situation. I spend my days delving through thousands of lines of code and coming up with solutions to problems for our clients. Dreamland.... |
