Wrinkles in SCHEDULES
All conferences generally have M/W doubleheaders to permit travel using one bus. Usually the Men's game is last, although Concordia for one tends to play the Men's game in the early slot. The Women's playoffs are earlier each Spring, so the Women's schedule begins a week early, and the last week involves only Men's games.

The AUS conference has 8 teams placed in 2 divisions for scheduling purposes. After scheduling, the 8 teams are considered one division, with the top six teams qualifying for the playoffs, and their overall season standing serves as playoff seeding. Memorial is always in the Baldwin division along with three of the four mainland Nova Scotia teams (SMU, StFX and Acadia), because of their proximity to Halifax airport. Each year one mainland team rotates to the Nelson division. In 2005-06 it is Dalhousie's turn to appear in the Nelson with UNB, UPEI and CBU. Each team plays 20 games, four against each division opponent, and two crossover games against each team in the other division, generally home-and-home, although not necessarily. Wins in own division earn two points, while wins over opponents from the other division earn four points. A team can earn 32 points from the 8 crossover games and 24 points from their 12 division games.

The Quebec conference has 5 teams that play a straight 16-game schedule, facing each of their four opponents twice on the road and twice at home.

The OUA has two 8-team divisions or conferences, OUA West and OUA East. Each team plays a 22-game schedule, 7 home-and-home series against division opponents, and a single game against each opponent in the other division. Those crossover games alternate home-away on successive years.

In 2005-06 Canada West added a new team, TRU, to form one 5-team division (Pacific) and two 4-team divisions (Central, Great Plains). Because of travel considerations, teams typically play a pair of Fri/Sat games at one location, so they must play quite an imbalanced schedule. In 2005-06 UBC played two games at home and two games away against of conference rivals SFU and TWU, and play only three games against TRU and UVic. They play a pair of away games at Brandon and a pair at Calgary, and host Winnipeg twice and Lethbridge twice. All this adds up to 20 wins and 40 points they can earn. UBC entirely miss playing Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Regina that season. Manitoba plays conference rivals Brandon, Winnipeg and Regina four times each home-and home, play Saskatchewan and SFU twice each on the road, then host Calgary and TWU twice at home. This gives a total of 20 wins and 40 points they can earn. Pacific will expand to six teams in 2006-07 by adding Fraser Valley, when they should be able to return to a more balanced schedule where they play all teams.
