Hi Folks:
Up until about suppertime I didn't think we were going to hike this
Sunday. After checking the Environment Canada and the Weather
Network's sites I think we can do it. What I am proposing is we walk
from Railtown in Wolfville to Canning, across the top of the dikes.
After lunch at the Port Pub in Canning we will walk the shoulder of
the Canning-Wolfville Road (this summer they added a generous shoulder
to that road) back to the railway right-of-way then follow the railway
right-of-way back to Railtown. I figure the whole walk will be roughly
8km. We should be done no later than 2 pm.
Forecast: 6-7 degrees C and cloudy with sunny periods. The Weather
Network is calling for a 20% chance of rain. Those are excellent odds
for it not to rain.
Meeting Place: The parking lot on the east end (Tim Horton's) of
Railtown in Wolfville. For those not familiar with Railtown - coming
in from New Minas/Greenwich on route #1, through downtown Wolfville,
turn left at the 4 way stop-Tim Horton's- and drive straight ahead to
the parking lot on the end of the Railtown complex. Coming from Grand
Pre you would turn right at the 4 way stop - Tim Horton's - and then
drive straight to the same parking lot.
Time: The hike/walk will start at 11:00 am. Please be in the parking
lot before 11:00 am.
