Index of Subjects While there are certainly poor interactions between PPP, text dialup and RCS the situation is not to my knowledge critical or seriously impacting useability. I came away from the tech meeting last night under the impression that we would: 1) ask Michael to strip out (or counsel me in stripping out) the RCS hooks from ftpd. We'll do this as soon as possible... days, weeks... This will leave only individuals editing on-line using RCS and we should be clear that this is not a 'Pico' issue, it is an 'update' (CSuite script) issue. This in itself should eliminate almost all of the problems associated with ftp/ppp users. --- It has been further proposed (several weeks ago) that we would (for several reasons including managing system load) develop a local back-up capability that would allow us to restore a file without going to Dalhousie. With this backup capacity in place we would stop supporting RCS except in special instances. Tony for one has indicated he finds value in RCS and it would not really be difficult to provide that functionality on a case by case basis... we've used (are using) this model in a number of other instances and it has not proved to be a significant problem for us to implement/manage. david potter
