Hello all, I'm interested in following something which (I think Michael?) suggested earlier; that there could easily be a separation of Chebucto Plus! membership and regular membership. Does this not open the technical door for IP-only memberships (i.e. not tied to a CCN individual membership), where dialup access, FTP-site maintenance and mailing list features can be tied to an institutional membership concept? Using our own organization as an example, nscuba@chebucto.ns.ca could become the "member" utilizing a revised membership agreement. The dialup username for Plus! access would be "nscuba". Site maintenance would be FTP-only. Email to nscuba@chebucto.ns.ca would then be assigned by _the organization/IP_ to the editor responsible for the site, putting the onus on the IP rather than chebucto to control who that editor is. This would facilitate (a) an easier, less bureaucratic/complicated method of transferring editing responsibilities for editors and (b) an improved, more direct linkage between Chebucto as an ISP and the organization/IP which maintains a website on our system. Thoughts? Mark. ________________________________________________________________ Mark Rushton, Editor, Community Support & Development, Chebucto Community Network Mark@chebucto.ns.ca or via WWW: http://chebucto.ns.ca/~Mark/index.html ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
