Unix allows the spaces, but in most cases a filename with spaces needs to be handled specially (quoted) and I know it breaks things on the English side, so I would strongly recommend against it. The convention is to use either - hyphen or _ underscore in place of the space e.g. msgs_archives or msgs-archives.
