SHOOT OUT
2000
The shoot out is intended to be a last resort
method of breaking ties between teams. It is recognized that this is not the
ideal method, however, the winner is decided on the ice, by the players, which from the
committees point of view is
the fairest way.
A shoot out will be considered as a separate
game. If a shoot out occurs at the end of a game in progress, all minor
and major penalties are terminated. This DOES NOT include penalties which incurred game
suspensions.
FORMAT
- each team will designate FIVE
shooters.
- determination of the team to shoot first will be by the flip of a
coin. The winner of the toss has the option to shoot
first, or second. The toss of the coin will be called by the team captain.
- the first player from each team will alternately take their shot
with the second, third, fourth, and fifth shooters
following. When all of the players have taken their shot, the results will be tallied. The team with
the most goals will
be declared the winner.
- IF NO WINNER IS DECLARED, the teams will continue with
a second group of five players, a third group etc.,
in a sudden death shoot out. The first team to be ahead
after one player from each team has had a shot will be
declared the winner.
