Connoire Bay to Culotte Cove; |
|
Sunday the 6th was celebrated with a breakfast of exceptional pancakes and cantaloupe in sunny, calm conditions on deck. A very enjoyable sailing day for making the short passage westward from Connoire Bay to Cinc Cerf Bay with clear weather, well-suited to easy ledge spotting along the way. The wind grew fresh and the sea choppy as we tacked between Smoky Island and Captain’s Island. | ||
We anchored in Culotte Cove, a favorite from past cruises, and directly went ashore to enjoy the white sand beach. A second cooking fire was built after a serious misjudgment about the eventual height of the tide. This made for a late but delicious shore dinner. Back on the vessel after cleaning up and preparing for serious evening business at the cabin table, we were startled by such a thump and clatter that we rose to see what was the matter (expletives deleted). When Ed threw the hatch open to investigate, a Great Blue Heron that had landed on top of the foremast plucked another note on the triatic stay as it departed in a flap. |
