Bay l'Argent to Chapel Island Tickle; |

Peter had to catch a taxi-bus to the Trans-Canada early that morning. To help us out Eric was ready with his truck to drive the 10 miles out to the main road so Peter could meet the taxi there at 0830 along with his travel baggage. When Ed left him, Eric suggested that we should make a short day of it by visiting Long Bay.

| John stayed with Concertina, and was soon meeting people who wanted to see the vessel. One older gentleman had fished on schooners from Lunenburg, and was delighted to see a schooner in harbour. He expressed some surprise when he learned that we intended to leave later in the morning, and offered his opinion that tomorrow might be a better day. | ||

After purchasing some provision at the store John and Ed cast off about 1030 and eventually sailed to windward tacking from the northern shore around New Harbour Island across to the southern shore off Grand John with some powering during a heavy rain spell in the early afternoon. A fresh WSW sailing breeze with improving visibility followed. On this day we saw more large whales at a distance, and a great variety of sea birds. | |

| Fog and rain continued and the wind grew stronger as we beat toward Chapel Island Tickle. That evening found us in a cove on the south side of the Tickle in 3 fathoms with a good mud bottom. It was a pleasure to have this anchoring security and protection from squalls during night. | ||
