Clan Oliphant was closely associated with Clan Melville. One
tartan is known under the trademark of "Oliphant and Melville."
Clan Oliphant is also a sept of Clan Sutherland
The Oliphants of Gask were ardent Jacobites. Laurence Oliphant
of Gask and his eldest son were attainted for their part in the
Jacobite Rising of 1745.
Lady Nairne (Carolina Oliphant), a famous Scottish poetess, was
of the Gask family. She was named Carolina in honour of Prince
Charlie.
