In the First World War, many Canadians distinguished themselves on the field of battle, some winning Canada's highest decoration for valour - The Victoria Cross. While no McCulloch won the VC, four McCulloch's won the Military Cross (MC), the decoration first in preference after the Victoria Cross. The MC with its white and purple ribbon was awarded only to Captains, Subalterns and Warrant Officers of the Army.
