Captain James A. McCulloch
The Military Cross
His Citation on being awarded the Military Cross
For conspicuous gallantry and leadership. This
officer led forward a machine-gun battery, and,
assisted by only four gunners, captured three enemy
machine guns which had been over-run by the leading
wave in the mist. He was severely wounded in the
advance, and collapsed with exhaustion after getting
his guns into action. His coolness and quick
decision materially assisted the advance.
