Sunny, calm, very warm/hot, lighting very bright and not = great for spotting small numbers of early southward-migrating = shorebirds. This was my first Shorebird Monitoring Walk for 2015. As = usual I started at the public steps next to the shorebird viewing and = information deck/panels. I walked east from 1:20 to 2:10 p.m., to the = east end of the beach (west of The Guzzle), and then back, ending at = 2:50. >=20 > NO PEEPS or other shorebirds were seen, but I could easily have missed = small numbers because of the bright lighting. Along the way I found a = tomcod? fish, about 20 cm. long, and several dead rock crabs. I saw 6 = double-crested cormorants, an adult bald eagle, 4+ great black-backed = gulls, and a few probable herring gulls. > =97=97=97=97=97=97=97=97=97=97 > Cheers from Jim in Wolfville. >=20 > _______________________________________________ > Nature mailing list > Nature@blomidonnaturalists.ca > = http://blomidonnaturalists.ca/mailman/listinfo/nature_blomidonnaturalists.= ca --Apple-Mail=_63CDE157-2DA1-4451-B855-6E4664B6696F Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/html; charset=windows-1252

<meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html = charset=3Dwindows-1252">
<body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; = -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: = after-white-space;">

Begin forwarded message:

<blockquote type=3D"cite"><div = style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; = margin-left: 0px;"><span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, = 0, 0, 1.0);">From: <span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">Jim Wolford <<a = href=3D"mailto:jimwolford@eastlink.ca">jimwolford@eastlink.ca>
<= /span>
<div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; = margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px;"><span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 1.0);">Subject: = <span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">[ValleyNature] no = shorebirds seen, Evangeline Beach, July 13/15

<div = style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; = margin-left: 0px;"><span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, = 0, 0, 1.0);">Date: <span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">July 13, 2015 at 6:48:14 PM = ADT

<div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; = margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px;"><span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 1.0);">To: = <span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">Nature BNS <<a = href=3D"mailto:nature@blomidonnaturalists.ca">nature@blomidonnaturalists.c= a>

<div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; margin-right: = 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px;"><span = style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica'; color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 1.0);">Cc: = <span style=3D"font-family:'Helvetica';">Julie Paquet <<a = href=3D"mailto:Julie.Paquet@ec.gc.ca">Julie.Paquet@ec.gc.ca>
</s= pan>

<meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html = charset=3Dwindows-1252"><div style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; = -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space;"><div = style=3D"margin: 0px;">JULY 13, 2015 - EVANGELINE BEACH =97 High = tide was at 11:30 a.m. (11.5 m. amplitude).
