folks,
There were a total of 8 *Banded Hairstreaks *in two milkweed patches in
Kentville today. This is a seldom reported species during the Butterfly
Atlas, but now might be a good time to check milkweed closely. The ones I
have seen are not very flighty and seem to stick closely to milkweed
flowers, sometimes hanging underneath them making it difficult to see them
from a standing position. When approached they seem to rarely fly off but
instead move to the opposite side of the flower or further underneath the
flower.
