This is a seldom reported species during the Butterfly Atlas, but now might be a good time to check milkweed closely. The ones I have seen are not very flighty and seem to stick closely to milkweed flowers, sometimes hanging underneath them making it difficult to see them from a standing position. When approached they seem to rarely fly off but instead move to the opposite side of the flower or further underneath the flower.
