Grand Pre) to check on the bald eagle nest adjacent to = the home of Jean & Vince Leung. Back on July 3, I recorded that I saw = only one fledgling at the nest, so imagine my surprise to discover that = now the same nest in the big Carolina poplar has three huge fledglings = standing up together there. Jean told me that one of them took its = first flight on Friday, July 10, a very short flight to the top of a = nearby spruce; then it flew back and landed awkwardly but OK at the = nest. Unfortunately, I have something that might detract from these = notes =97 one of those fledglings had its left wing dangling and looking = useless, although apparently fully feathered. Jean suggested that maybe = this was because of the heat, and I hope she=92s right. She will = continue to monitor them and possibly call N.S. Dept. of Nat.
