One is to=2C in late fall=2C collect damaged apples= =2C pears and other fruit that have fallen on the ground and are not going = to be used by humans.=20 I store a big bag of wild apples before first snow and store them in= a small garbage can (to keep mice and squirrels at bay) in my unheated she= d until the first robins and other migrants arrive in spring. A second thin= g that can be done is to save the remains (skins cores etc.) of fruit used = for our personal baking and eating. Third we ask our local grocery store to= save you some of the unsold rotted fruit that they are about to throw in t= he garbage. Hope this helps.
