This past Sunday I was struck by a sort of "Glory" phenomenon while
walking along the top of the dyke going N from Horton Landing. The
quasi-Glory was visible at both near and rather far distances between
7:15-8:30 AM. I was able to capture the effect quite well in photos,
although I suppose it's always better in person. I'm not confident
this was a true Glory as there was no rainbow effect. The true Glory
process is discussed here:

Four photos showing the phenomenon are here:

A good book on optical phenomena is "Light and Colour in the Outdoors"
by M.G.J. Minnaert 1993 translation
