I used to have a nice book of bird photos and lore by Arthur Allen of Cornell University, dated back to the 1970s or 1960s, in which was a sequence of photos of a green heron fishing with pieces of bread? somewhere in Florida? But I don't believe I have heard of any other species of herons using this technique. Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
