Index of Subjects Thanks for this, Jeff - very enlightening. It's certainly hit the trees very hard in my neighborhood. Unfortunately the link you provided doesn't work, but I did get some references from a Google search. Is there any point in reporting this location to the CFIA (and if so, do you have a contact)? Chris Majka took a look for me and also id'd it as a flea beetle, most likely willow flea beetle but was not sure because something just didn't seem right. Well it appears Chris was correct....flea beetle , yes.....willow, no. This springs CFIA informed it me it has been identified as Orchestes fagi, the beech flea weevil a native of Europe. They are currently investigating and looking for sites of the damage to determine the range of this species.
