Hi Rick, I have noticed that some birds were mentioned in Blake Maybank's winter list, but not reported in NatureNS or Rare Bird Yahoo group. Found the data in Cape Breton Birds, Great Backyard Bird Count and other websites. It would be nice if birders share their findings whether the birds are rare, uncommon, or common. Tufted duck - Glace Bay or nearby? Fox sparrows - Chester Basin, Lake Charlotte, Clark's Harbour, Broad Cove Mew Gull - Glace Bay or nearby? Snow buntings - Amherst, Upper Rawdon, Middle Musquodboit, Bedford (50!) Grackles - Waterville, Bridgewater Chipping Sparrow - Port Williams, Lesser BB gull - Lawrencetown, HRM? Merlin - Wellington, Dartmouth Common (near the Sportsplex), Halifax (where?) Goshawk - Aylesford, Front Centre (near Lunenburg) Is the Lesser Black backed gull still in Prospect? Cheers Liz ............ DOW February List: Saw-whet Owl -- If this holds, it will be first Feb in 5 years of records without a report. Surely one is tending a feeder, for the mice, somewhere ? Mew (Common) Gull -- Ditto. None of you in Metro or CB are going to pick up a Mew Gull ? Rick Whitman
