Hi Randy,

As Paul has pointed out there are two viewpoints that should be considered,
the farmer's and the 'conservationist'. Unfortunately there is not always a
happy compromise.

Bobolinks are the most studied grassland species and using them as a
yardstick it can be said that a good rule of thumb is that if the cut is
delayed to July 1st, 50-70% of the birds will have fledged. Delay two more
weeks to July 15th and in most years you will have 100% of the nests
fledged.
