I checked out the farmhouse of Cheryl Rutledge this evening. Conditions =
were 23C with no wind and 95 % cloud cover. Extremely humid, lots of =
bugs. I showed up at 20:15, sunset forecast for 20:59.
=20
2 Tree Swallows were flitting about. As there were no swifts in sight I =
watched the cloud of Humming Birds at the feeders. Never less than 10 =
and often quite a few more, they were like giant mosquitoes.
=20
At 20:50 the first small group of Chimney Swifts flew over very high.
20:55 6 entered then 2 more.=20
From then on it was mostly singles, well spaced out, no fuss or noise. =
They just showed up and fluttered into the chimney. Several times I =
decided to leave and then another would arrive.
21:20 the last small group arrived and it was getting hard to see.
I left at 21:25
Swift Total of 28 for the evening unless a few more arrived in the dark.
