Is it the NS Reportable species or just whatever we see. I imagine that for the Rare Bird Alert, it is the reportable species but what about for this listserv? Today, Nick and I went to Sandy Cove, first to escape the heat and second to try to see the Tennessee Warbler. We did see it and managed to take some photos of it. Other species seen were: Magnolia Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, White Throated Sparrow, Hermit Thrush, Black and White Warbler, American Robins, Yellow Warbler, American Goldfinch, Common Grackle, a Hawk (unknown species) and what we thought was a Gray Catbird but it turned out to be a immature Gray Jay. Thanks to Cathy and Allan Murrant for their expertise in helping us confirm the identity of the Gray Jay. We have a pictures if anyone is interested. Tomorrow, I head up to Cape Breton to do a plant identification workshop in Waycobah plus I will be gathering some sweetgrass so I keep my eye out for birds. Tuma Young Halifax, NS Koqwaqja'tekaq'tinej.
