JULY 5, 2010 - I checked on three bald eagle nests, two of which still have large nestlings/fledglings on/in the nests (no doubt not for long): (1) north of Kentville, in Eagle Landing subdivision off Middle Dyke Rd. -- 2 large nestlings still in nest; (2) Land of Evangeline Family Camping Resort, south edge, in tall spruce: one adult and one huge fledgling were perched on the nest rim, with the fledgling looking as big or bigger than the adult; (3) southeast of jct. of Eye Rd. with Hwy. 1, east of Wolfville: no young or adults at the nest, and the oak foliage prevents seeing whether any fledglings remain near the nest, but my guess is that the 1-2 youngsters there fledged quite a while ago.
