Further to thread re ducklings being taken, I just got a note from friends  
vacationing on the Norfolk Broads in England. As an aside he noted that 
there  were lots of otters and they were very partial to ducklings. They saw 
several  taken by otters. I have to say we did not see that on the Kennet Avon 
canal  earlier this spring although there were hundreds of very small  
ducklings  and water hen chicks. Of interest were the huge numbers of hybrid 
ducks. Many of  the property owners along the banks have various domestic ducks 
and the colours  of some of the offspring were a little bizarre.
