--Boundary_(ID_nIilmPrzBHuxrHPYYSYfng) Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT JUNE 23, 2010 - I revisited the "new" bald eagle nest north of Kentville and New Minas for some photos (3 taken on film) -- from Belcher St., take Middle Dyke Rd. north to the Eagle Landing subdivision, turn left on Aerie Dr., then right on Talon Dr., then look to the left (west) from the house under construction. The nest low in a pine is adjacent to houses' back yards and an open strawberry field just to the west (farmed by someone named Kennie?/ Kenny?). In the nest are 2 dark nestlings getting large, and an adult flew in and landed briefly while I watched, but it did not deliver food. I talked with a nice couple who live at 80 Talon Dr., next to the house under construction. They are birder-friendly and would welcome gawkers even into their back yard (but that might frighten the eagles). I didn't get their names or phone number, but they moved there two years ago and the nest was there then. Last year they apparently lost their eggs to "crows" perhaps and didn't raise any young. But we know now that the nest goes back to at least 2008. They showed me a business card of the man who manages the subdivision?: Mike Lynch, 790-2446 (Windsor), 798-8224 (Falmouth) (home?). The card also had Brison Developments and Valley Homes company names for the owner of the land? and the builder of the homes? Maybe I can find out from Mr. Lynch how long ago the eagles started nesting there, and whether the subdivision was named accordingly.
