Hi Pat;

As per what Randy said in his reply we mix ours at 4 parts water to 1 part
sugar in the summer. The 3 to 1 ratio is good to
start them going in the spring as with shorter days and colder nights they
use more energy.
You should also be changing the food every three or four days in hotter
weather as it can start to spoil
and mold will grow inside the feeders. Its also a good practice to clean the
feeders well by taking them apart
and scrubbing them down with hot water. We have several feeders up and there
are times we have to fill daily, but
lately they have been lasting a little longer. Think there is an abundance
of natural flowers that they like around
this year. Good luck with attracting them and there are times where they can
be very territorial so it may not hurt to
move the feeder a little further away.
