Hello, Jane,

Sylvia Mangalam who contributed the Solomon's seal item to Marnoon is
a friend and a thorough foodie and gardener. So I listened and believed.

I tried Solomon's seal stems and so did my neighbour and we had no ill
effects. Furthermore, they are delicious like asparagus.

I cut mine when the leaves were in a clump 8-9" off the ground but not
unfurled. That was a good stage. I don't know whether they are still
tender now.

Cheers,

Nancy
