Hi all
With the great forecast for this evening, Rick Ferguson and I decided to do some night atlassing in atlas square 20NR02 and 20NR03 in the West River Station area in Pictou Co.. About 21:55 we heard 3 Woodcock in the West River Station area (20NR03)
We quickly drove south to the next square (20NR02) where we had about 9 more Woodcock, 2 pairs of Great Horned Owls and a Northern Saw-whet owl calling. Wood frogs were abundant and there were Spring Peepers in a number of spots although not to the ear-piercing stage yet. Great time to add owls and woodcock to squares missing this data! The remote logging roads were amazingly dry.
There were about 12 DC Cormorants at the Pictou Causeway today.
cheers
Ken
