They are hard to count as they forage amongst the kelps that are clinging to the rocks of the reef, but I'd say somewhere between 50-200. I could see the surf braking offshore over a portion of the Sambro Ledge, exposing jagged rock faces. This is at least a kilometre off shore and is one dangerous place.
