I took a quick stroll at Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park this morning and found a single American Pipit at the cobbly beach, a location where they have successfully over-wintered.

Later at Duncan Reef I found four Lapland Longspurs and five Snow Buntings. These birds were restless and mostly just flew around without any apparent purpose. They are wonderfully attractive photographic subjects when they stop to forage. Dozens of Northern Gannets were happily fishing and cavorting on their way south. Life is good for them it seems!

Hans
