I believe the story because a = number of years ago I saw a cougar chase a deer across the road in front = of my car at short range. I have studied the cougar at Shubenacadie = Park, and there is no question but that was what I saw. Roland. ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Andrew Steeves=20 To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca=20 Sent: Thursday, April 16, 2009 1:22 PM Subject: [NatureNS] A Cougar Story On the off chance there's something to this ... One of the old-timers who hangs out in my printship off and on came in = today and told me that a friend of his had emailed him to report that a = large male cougar had been struck by a car inland of Liverpool = somewhere, either yesterday or recently. He claims to have a photo, = though I've not seen it personally. My friend reports that the animal = was not fully killed my the blow from the vehicle and that someone from = DNR had to come out and shoot it. He quoted a weight in excess of 200 = pounds, but I don't know how much fishing story math is involved here. I can't personally vouch for any of this. But has anyone else heard = anything about this alleged incident? I would think that if it were true = someone at DNR or one of the biology departments would know about it by = now.=20 Andrew Steeves Wolfville, NS ____________________________________________ GASPEREAU PRESS =B6 Printers & Publishers 47 Church Avenue, Kentville, NS B4N 2M7 TEL: 902 678 6002 www.gaspereau.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- No virus found in this incoming message.
