Hi Chris & All, Apr 14, 2009
It is reputed to be throughout the province but being common it is =
seldom collected, so maybe so- maybe not so.

Even in those areas where it can be locally abundant, it is =
demanding with respect to microhabitat. Look for it in well drained =
locations where there is ample light and little or no competition; e.g. =
edges of old sled roads, glades, grazed woodland where low branches are =
chewed back, soils impoverished by fires and chopped areas that have =
reforested slowly. These demands are most frequently met on sandy soil =
but loams can support good colonies and it will grow on hummocks even in =
otherwise poorly drained soil.

On the North Mountain (Basalt) I would look near the crest of vaults =
where a bend generates a south-facing slope.

Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville

What is the range of Mayflowers in Nova Scotia. I don't recall ever =
seeing them on Long or Brier Islands, or for that matter Digby Neck. =20
