I was driving back to Falmouth and it was sitting on power pole on Ridge Road, east of the exit. I assumed it was a snowy owl, and continued on my way. After running some errands in Windsor I did something I rarely do. I got the binoculars and camera and drove back, just in case it was still in the area. It was, but I was never able to get too close to it. It would fly into a row of trees, sit for 5 minutes then fly somewhere else. It was never close enough to Ridge Road to get a great picture. and I didn't really use the binoculars, as I figured it was a snowy owl, especially since when i saw it at a distance it was as white as, well, snow..... Not having a lot of experience with them, I tried to get some pictures and headed home. When I looked at them I was surprised to see that, despite the poor quality, the head shape was wrong, and in the rightmost image you can see that the eyes are mostly black as well as the beak. http://myweb.dal.ca/pmkelly/White.jpg Would this actually be a white-phase gyrfalcon?
