DEC. 8, 2008 - Lots of activity at the bird feeders this morning in
the new snow and cold and wind, including a drab probable imm. PINE
WARBLER, perhaps the same one seen not long ago, on Dec. 2/08.

Other birds at my feeders in the storm were a m/f pair of FLICKERS, a
single STARLING monopolizing the suet for a long time, plus mourning
doves, a female CARDINAL, blue jays, 6 crows, 4+ white-throated
sparrows, a few juncos.

Sherman Bleakney, at the top of Kent Ave. in Wolfville, reports that
REDPOLLS showed up today for the first time this winter. He counted
4-5 at once, and they seemed to be all or mostly males.

Marty Snyder saw her first CARDINAL at home 10 days ago, and then
again today. Both sightings were of a male. She lives west of
Gaspereau and north of the White Rock power plant.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
