Index of Subjects In the past we've had on-line discussions about what should or shouldn't appear on naturens, but I still think it's better to error on the side of inclusiveness, not exclusiveness. So I was happy to see Blake's and Wayne's messages about the vital nature of the upcoming federal election. Listing birds and debating about identifications is certainly a fundamental, valuable aspect of this listserv, but to cut the listserv off from political matters, esp. as they relate to environmental concerns, could risk making the listserv a bit like the proverbial head-in-the-sand camel. The listserv shouldn't be a shelter from our troubled world, but I realize that's only one possible view of it. Those who don't want to read about politics can easily delete the messages. If beliefs differ and swords clash (as they did a few months ago during a debate about global warming), that's not such a bad thing -- that's nature...human nature.
