Hello Jim -
My memory is a bit different. By 1976 I was living in Barrington =
Head, and at the time of the ground hog day storm I was still living in =
Hopkins Town ( no one will know where that is I expect) in Barrington =
Passage. The thing I remember about the storm is that we were without =
power for three days, even though we were right on the main road. All =
the poles were down on the causeway to Cape Sable Island, and in many =
parts of the Island as well. It took a week to restore the power - in =
the meantime people were going our with power saws and cutting up the =
power poles that were down and burning them in their wood stoves.

Roland

Roland, that storm was on Oct. 2, 1976 -- I remember because I was in =
Wolfville then in my first autumn here, having come from Alberta just a =
month previous. What I most remember from that day is not only how =
fierce the wind was on campus, with the trees really tested, but also =
how much the bigger birds like gulls and pigeons and crows appeared to =
enjoy it by flying around in it!

    Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
