There has been a recent thread on BirdChat regarding recruiting young
birders, but this note can apply to young naturalists in general. We
have been fortunate in having Karen McKendry and others in the province
working with youth. How can we make our field trips more welcoming to
youth? Cheers, Joan

Urban Birds, at Cornell:

http://www.birds.cornell.edu/celebration

For all ages, but great for kids. And let's not forget that the demographic
trends in this country are such that we ignore the underrepresented groups
that will soon comprise a plurality, we are going to have a huge number of
people who have no exposure to (and thus no interest in) nature conservation.

Bird Education Network:

http://www.birdeducation.org/

Exciting new nationwide project, full of enthusiastic, dedicated people led
by the brilliant Paul Baicich.

Environmentors:

http://ncseonline.org/environmentors/

Not limited to birds, but a terrific program to get high school students
interested in the environment and science in a very hands-on way, to help
them prepare for college degree programs.
