To Sherman, Peter, Heather, and all:

I think Heather's note below about the Wolfville Watershed (Gaspereau
Mountain) referred to our walk there on Aug. 23, when at least three
plants were seen, and one small one was still in bloom.

More important, Carl Munden's 2001 book, "Native Orchids of Nova
Scotia: A Field Guide", shows known locations for broad-leaved
helleborine from near Maitland (Hants Co.) to Digby on the western
mainland (add Peter Hope's addition now for northern Queen's County),
no locations furthern east or north on the mainland, but then two
locations in northeastern Cape Breton (one natural spot near Cheticamp).

From what I recall, not long after Bernard Forsythe's initial
discovery of this species in Blomidon Park, it was quickly also
discovered at Annapolis Royal, and then it seemed in succeeding years
to get widespread at least in The Valley area.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
