The heron nests are active with birds on the nest but no chicks yet.= I will try and get some photos when I get the time. All the best. Fritz McEvoy Sunrise Valley CB (near Dingwall) From: fritzmcevoy@hotmail.comTo: naturens@chebucto.ns.caSubject: [NatureNS]= GB Heron nest ?Date: Tue, 17 Jun 2008 10:00:54 -0300 Hi All, While atlassing with Ivy Austin on Sunday at White Point (near N= eil's Harbour) we observed two occupied GB Heron nests. They were located o= n rock ledges on the cliff face of a grassy islet that is the farthest poin= t out on the peninsula. They shared the rock with a number of GBB Gull and = other seabird nests. Neither of us have seen herons breed on this type of l= ocation before and I wanted to know if was a common occurrence. Also not= ed in the area were the return of Barn Swallows to old nesting sites unoccu= pied for the last few years. I wonder if the large number of swallows kille= d in the aftermath of hurricane Wilma in 2005 might have had some impact in= their absence for the last number of years?
