Perhaps like the Bobwhite in Baccaro a few years ago, and the Wild
Turkeys at various locations in NS, this bird was brought in illegally.
This month's issue of _Eastern Woods and Water_ has an article on the
joys of the hunting wild turkeys in the spring, and speculation about
having them here. Wild Turkeys are not native to Nova Scotia, and Nature
Nova Scotia (FNSN) has a policy paper protesting the introduction of
them and other non-native species without solid scientific research that
doing so will cause no harm. Cheers, Joan
