Tricia Murphy sent some good pics of a stuunning, but "uncountable," Chukar - a
dry-country Old-World partridge - taken 3-7 May in her backyard off the
Prospect Rd. in Brookside.

Chukars here are escpaees, either from avian collections or from birds used in
bird-dog trials. They have established population in the dry, mountainous parts
of the West, including extreme s. BC, but are unlikely to find suitable
habitats here.
